Authorities are looking for signs of a mountain lion and Schoo Middle School is keeping their kids inside after a woman reported seeing the cat in a field Thursday.

Lancaster County Sheriff Terry Wagner said a woman called deputies Monday to report she saw what she believed to be a large mountain lion in a field near Schoo Middle School Thursday.

Wagner said deputies are in the area searching for the mountain lion but have not spotted any sign of the animal.

As a precaution the principal at Schoo decided to keep students inside for the day. The school also sent a message to parents to let them know of the situation.

LPS said they are following the procedure they usually do when something potentially dangerous is reported near a school.

This is a developing story, check back for more information.
