A pothole closed part of Highway 34 in Grand Island late Friday afternoon.
Two cars were damaged when they hit the hole that opened up in the west bound lane near Ramada Road.
Nebraska Department of Roads, Grand Island Public Works crews, and Grand Island Police responded.
NDOR planned to open up the whole more to see what was underneath and assess the damage before moving forward with repairs.
No one was injured.
