Randolph Area Man Dies when Pickup Crashes into Semi

A rural Randolph man has died in a crash with a semi near Belden.

Just after 11:00 a.m. Friday, Ceder County Deputies and rescue crews were called to an injury accident about one mile west of Belden.

According to the Sheriff's Office, an eastbound pickup was driven by 74-year-old Delbert Stevens of Randolph. Deputies say Stevens crossed the center line and hit a Peterbuilt semi head-on.

Stevens, who was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the semi, 23-year-old Blake Wamsteeker of Fort Macleoad Alberta Canada, was transported to Faith Regional Hospital in Norfolk, with non life-threatening injuries.

The Sheriff's Office says the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
