Santa Cop Raises Funds with Auction

Residents gathered Sunday afternoon to fight over some pretty incredible prizes, but it was for a good cause: buying presents for underprivileged kids.

Businesses and residents from both Lincoln and Omaha donated hundreds of items for the 22nd annual Santa Cop auctions.

The most popular items: Husker memorabilia, a NASCAR helmet and a '93 Honda Accord.

All the money raised in the auctions will go towards buying presents for underprivileged families.

The Center for People in Need hands out the gifts in time for Christmas.

Lincoln Police Officer Lacey Reha says buying the kids toys is the best part of the program.

She says, "I've been shopping last year as well. This is the second year. It's just so much fun shopping for someone who you know would never be able to purchase these gifts or even see these gifts under their Christmas tree but now they can."

You can still donate both toys and cash to the Santa Cop program.
