Three western Nebraska school officials accused of failing to report accusations of the sexual abuse of a student have hired a North Platte attorney to represent them.
Bob Lindemeier is representing Maxwell Public Schools Superintendent Danny Twarling, high school principal Aubrey Boucher and wrestling coach Ryan Jones.
All three have been cited on suspicion of failure to report child abuse or neglect, a misdemeanor.
Nebraska State Patrol investigators say the three had been told that a student-athlete had been held down by other classmates and sodomized with a soda bottle.
Lindemeier says that school officials had investigated the allegations and were told by the alleged victim and his mother that no such attack had happened.
