A southeast Nebraska man was arrested for contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Authorities say 42-year-old Craig Dorn of rural Beatrice smoked meth with a 16-year-old runaway.
The teen was reported missing from Crete. At midnight Wednesday morning, a Gage County deputy observed the teen through a window at Dorn’s home. Deputies and a Beatrice police officer then spoke to Dorn who said the teen was inside.
When the teen was asked to get her jacket, the deputy observed a meth pipe. Additional drug paraphernalia was discovered during a search of her belongings.
During interviews after their arrest, the Gage County Sheriff’s office says Dorn and the teen described smoking meth together and that Dorn drove with the child as a passenger after smoking meth. Authorities say Dorn admitted to knowing the girl was a runaway and was planning on contacting the county attorney’s office the next morning with the hopes of having pending criminal charges dismissed.
The child was charged with possession of meth and drug paraphernalia. Dorn was charged with felony child abuse, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Dorn is also a registered sex offender. He was convicted in 2010 for possession child pornography.
