Once again, a criminal tries to take advantage of Nebraska Seniors.
However this time, he didn't get the best of his victim.
According to the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office, a phone scammer called a 76-year-old woman and posed as a medicare representative.
The woman told police the man on the phone had a thick, foreign accent and asked for her bank account number to issue new medicare cards.
The woman didn't give up the information, despite the caller's repeated attempts to get the information.
"Just a really good rule of thumb is, if you don't make the call, you really don't know whose on the other end and where they are calling from," said Sheriff Terry Wagner, Lancaster County. "If you don't make the call, don't give them information that's private information for you, social security number, bank accounts, credit cards."
Wagner says to report all scam attempts, especially if you lose money.
In this case, the victim did not suffer any loss.
