The leader of an effort to recall Mayor Jay Vavricek has picked up recall signature forms printed by the Hall County Election Commissioner's Office.
The signature forms carry a response from the Mayor. Recall leader Jeb Wolsleben says he has been cleared to begin gathering signatures immediately, but will likely wait until Monday in order to give notice to planned signature gathering sites, including Grand Island's Public Library.
"We are required by state statute to have 35% of the total votes cast in the last election. So that would be 3286 signatures. I have 30 days to collect the signatures that are required. The only challenge is covering a city the size of Grand Island," Wolsleben explained.
Wolsleben says he has a team of volunteers in place to assist with the signature collections.
