Lincoln, NE-- Some teams and families are already arriving in Lincoln for the state basketball tournament Wednesday afternoon.
After a five hour drive, the Wauneta-Palisade girls basketball team is finally at their hotel. It's their second time at the state tournament.
"We're excited," several members of the team said, "it’s just like any other game.
"We'll work hard and together and hopefully get the job done."
With the tournament comes a crowd, and local hotels are seeing their rooms filling up.
“We've never had a problem filling it up during this time," Noemi Johnson, the general manager of New Victorian Suits, said.
"It’s kind of nice actually, knowing this is a busy time of the year and we're ready for it.
Although the suites are about ten driving minutes from the arena, Johnson said they're completely booked for Thursday and Friday just for the tournament.
"This is the time where families are excited their kids made it to state," Johnson said, "and they want to celebrate with their kid and make it special for them."
Whether the hotels are a short drive or right in the Haymarket, businesses are seeing the same impact - a sell out.
"It’s a great impact on our hotel and other hotels in the Haymarket," Roland Morgan said, the general manager of Hilton Garden Inn.
The Hilton Garden Inn is one of several hotels that just recently opened, and it’s steps away from the arena. This is the hotel’s first state basketball tournament and they said their success booking rooms is because of their location.
"You can literally park at our hotel," Morgan said, "and you can dine, shop, and walk to the Pinnacle Bank Arena for the tournament.
"It’s just convenience, I think that’s the best thing being down here at the Haymarket."
