Teresa Barta, a Spanish teacher at Lincoln Southeast high school, is now a naturalized U.S. Citizen.
She took the oath of allegiance Wednesday in front of her students and family.
Barta says it took a lot of hard work, testing and dedication to earn the title of a U.S.citizen.
She wanted her students to understand how important it is to be ready for change, and learn all you can.
Teresa came to the U.S from Spain in 2003. She admits at one time she'd never heard of the Cornhusker state.
With a big smile she said, "I'm one of you guys now."
