There is still no official cause of death for a Fremont teenager whose body was found Sunday. Brandon Kamphaus, 16, had been missing since Friday.
Monday was the first day back at Fremont High School since news of the sophomore's death. Principal Chuck story said they tried to make Monday be as normal as possible for students, and things went as well as could be expected. Crisis counselors were available at the school to help friends and classmates cope with the tragedy.
Kamphaus was last seen Friday morning at home getting ready for school. His vehicle was found later that day a half mile away. His body was discovered Sunday afternoon in a wooded area in northwest Fremont.
Kamphaus was diabetic, but police have not said if that was a factor in his death.
Fremont police say the autopsy was inconclusive, and a cause of death will not be known until toxicology reports come back in about six to eight weeks.
Because of items found at the scene, police do not suspect foul play.
