A Lincoln strip club has withdrawn its application for a liquor license for its planned downtown location.
Viper Room attorney Mike Kelly told the Nebraska Liquor Control Commission that the owners weren't willing to commit to renovating the proposed site without the guarantee of a liquor license.
The club has a location in west Lincoln and recently announced plans to move downtown because it's rent will go up.
It applied for a relocation license from the commission.
The city council approved the club's move but later proposed new zoning rules that would prohibit strips clubs from opening downtown, citing community response.
Under the change, existing strip clubs would be allowed to stay in business.
The city council will consider the proposal at its Monday meeting.
