Students Make Big Impact with "Big Event"

Updated: Mon 4:40 AM, Apr 23, 2012

More then 2,500 UNL students gave back to the community Saturday as part of the 7th annual Big Event.

We caught up with a group of students volunteering at Matt Talbot Kitchen and Outreach.

The motto of the event is "One big day, One big thanks" and the students definitely lived up to it.

The 2,500 volunteers went to around 200 locations across the city who needed a hand, both non-profit groups and private residences.

Officials at Matt Talbot say it's great to see students making a big impact.

The Big Event doesn't just happen at UNL.

It started at Texas A&M in 1982 and has since grown to college campuses across the nation.
