Kickball, dancing and hot dogs. It was all part of a day known as sum fun.

"The focus of our camp is to have all special needs kids come together and work in a variety of activities. We have active games, non-active games. We do crafts we go on a lot of outings and field trips in the community," said Monica Manning, Assistant Director of the Easterday Rec Center.

Friday marked Lincoln Parks and Recreation's summer camp finale. Lending them a hand was the Lincoln East Rotary Club.

"Our Rotary Club started this more than 30 years ago, doing a picnic. The kiddos end up doing some skits for their parents. It makes a festive finale for the day camp," said Harland Johnson, Picnic Committee.

"The program this year is going to be along the lines of what our theme is, moving and grooving. It's to go along with part of our Parks and Rec "Healthy Me" aspect of our programming. We'll have songs and dance in our program," Manning said.

Matthias Lindburg isn't new to dancing...

"I just go with the music, but they taught us the moves and all that," said Lindburg, an eighth grader.

It's events like this that prepare kids for the future.
"I'm going to college after I graduate high school and I'm moving to Florida," said Zach Kritz, a high school senior.
