Syracuse Community Holds Fundraiser to Help Rebuild Church

It has been two weeks since the Syracuse United Methodist Church was destroyed in a massive fire.

The congregation is slowly starting to think about the future of the church. They will start planning when to rebuild and where they will hold services in the meantime.

The Syracuse community held a Chili Cook Off to help raise money for the church Sunday at B&J's Family Restaurant & Lounge.

The money will go towards clean-up efforts and rebuilding. Crews have already been searching the site to see if there is anything salvageable.

Pastor Gary Ganger says they want to take their time with rebuilding to make sure they consider everything the church would need in the next 50 years.
