Service Planned for Tamora Couple Killed in Lincoln Car Crash

Harold Wheeler and his wife Connie, both of Tamora never made it to a fiftieth wedding anniversary celebration being held in Lincoln.

Crews responded to the fatal crash around 1:30 Saturday afternoon, the collision happened just east of 14th Street on Superior.

Captain Joseph Wright of LPD said "Our investigation at this point indicates that a car occupied by two people was westbound and came into the eastbound lanes and hit a truck as the truck was headed eastbound." Wright added that the driver of the truck received minor injuries.

Emily Gregarus, a friend of the Wheelers' said the couple was known to participate in Pinnacle games at the Lied Senior Center in Seward. Gregarus also praised Harold Wheeler's work in the senior community.

A celebration of the Wheelers' lives is scheduled to take place at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Roper and Sons in Lincoln.
