Trial Continues for Man Accused of Brutally Raping Woman in Apartment

A brutal rape trial continues at the Lancaster County courthouse. In April of 2009 a Lincoln woman was attacked with her then 3-year-old son in her apartment.

Court documents state the rapist, wearing while latex gloves, a mask, jeans and a hoodie, threatened to harm the boy and the victim with a steak knife if she would not cooperate. The victim reported she was held at gunpoint while he repeatedly raped her, making her bathe and brush her teeth after each time.

Documents state that this went on for ten hours. The rapist then left the apartment near Wal-Mart on 27th Street around 7 a.m. on April 23, 2009 with all of the sheets from her bed.

In earlier testimony the victim said the rapist was 32-year-old Armon Dixon of Lincoln, who is on trial for the rape.

Deputy County Defender Shawn Elliott told jurors that she was only 60-65 percent sure it was Dixon when she looked through pictures two weeks after the attack.

On Thursday LPD investigators, Dixon's girlfriend and the victim's sister testified to the events that led up to the arrest of Dixon.

The hospital's sexual assault kit was submitted into evidence.

The jury, made up of six white males and six white females does not know a major part of the story that the public knows.

Dixon is currently serving a 70 to 120 year sentence for the rape and robbery of a Lincoln convenience store clerk a month before the alleged rape at the apartment building. DNA evidence tied him to that crime. That fact was not allowed to be introduced in this trial.

The trial is expected to go on for about a week
