The damage remains after a minor traffic violation wrecked havoc in one Grand Island neighborhood Sunday night.
Police say a driver failed to yield at a stop sign at 6th Street and Wheeler Avenue and ran into another car. That car then ran into two houses and another parked car, narrowly missing a toddler in one of the houses.
Police say the driver who didn't stop at the stop sign was issued a citation at the scene.
This is the fourth incident of a car running into a house in Grand Island in recent months.
"This is kind of unusual to have this many cars and houses striking each other in a short period of time," says Grand Island Police Officer Butch Hurst.
Police say two of the cars were totaled, and damage to one of the houses is estimated to be upwards of $10,000. The family that lived in the damaged house is staying elsewhere for the moment.
