The Cass County Sheriff's Office is investigating a rollover crash just outside of Weeping Water.
It happened at about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday near Highway 50 and 13K Road.
According to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, a flatbed pick-up was pulling an International grain truck. The drive shaft of the grain truck broke and that’s when the grain truck went into the ditch, pulling the flatbed truck with it.
Witnesses reported the flatbed truck standing nearly straight up on its tailgate. Deputies say the flatbed truck rolled, ending up on its top in the middle of Highway 50.
Deputies say a 71-year-old man was driving the flatbed truck, and his 75-year-old wife was a passenger. Both were taken by helicopter to Creighton Medical Center. The extent of their injuries is unknown. A 56-year-old man was steering the grain truck. He was not injured in the crash.
Deputies say the couple bought the grain truck in Cook, Nebraska and was towing it to Ashland, Nebraska.
Highway 50 is still shut down as of 5 p.m. Deputies are waiting for a tow truck to clear the roadway.
