Lincoln Police: Two Men in Jail Following Foot Chase

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Two men are in custody after running from police. One suspect was tased, the other found hiding nearby.

Just before 1 a.m. Monday, Lincoln Police officers spotted a blue Chevrolet Caprice in the parking lot of Kwik Shop at 33rd and Holdrege. According to police, the officers believed the car was the same one involved in a pursuit last month.

When officers approached the car, the driver, 39-year-old James Harris ran. Officers chased Harris to Starr Street where they both used a taser to stop the foot chase.

A police dog tracked the passenger, 51-year-old Ernest Holland, who was hiding in the back yard of a house about a block away from the store.

Back at the store, officers found the car had been left running when the men fled.

Both men were taken to jail. Harris was transported to the hospital to be checked out first.

Police say Harris is facing charges for three counts of possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest and failure to comply.
