Two people were taken to the hospital after a rollover crash on W. South Street.

Officers on the scene say the van with Alabama license plates sheared a fire hydrant and rolled onto its side.

According to Lincoln Fire and Rescue, the driver and passenger were taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Officials said the van appeared to traveling west on W. South Street when it lost control in the 1600 block, about 2:15 a.m. Saturday.

One official said, "The tire marks in the snow show the vehicle was on the shoulder for some time."

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.
