Two Lincoln Police cruisers collide, sending one officer and a youth to the hospital.
According to Captain Michon Morrow, just before 3:00 Tuesday morning, an officer was traveling west on Lincoln Mall at S. 12th Street and stopped at the intersection, then preceded through. A second cruiser was following the first car and drove into the intersection also.
Morrow said the second officer misjudged how quickly the car ahead was going and struck the rear of the first car in the intersection.
Morrow said there was a youth in the first car who was being transported home. The youth and the officer in the first cruiser were both transported to the hospital.
Morrow said she was unsure what the nature of their injuries, but both said they had suffered some pain. The officer in the second cruiser was not injured.
Both cruisers were towed to the police garage where the damages will be assessed.
