LINCOLN, Neb. -- A woman who lost her daughter and was critically injured in the Pilger tornadoes in June, is improving.
Kandi Murphree's son, Cody Murphree, reports that his mother has been moved out of the ICU and is now talking.
Murphree's 5-year-old daughter, Calista "Cali" Dixon's, died when tornadoes struck the northeast Nebraska town on June 16.
Dixon was one of two people killed when the storms caused significant damage to most of Pilger.
Dixon's grandmother, Kay Labenz, says she believes Murphree was fleeing her mobile home with her two daughters when the storm hit. Four-year-old Robin Dixon wasn't seriously hurt.
