Nearly 300 registered voters in Nebraska will receive notice from Secretary of State John Gale that their party has been dissolved. Party leadership for Americans Elect recently informed the office of its dissolution at both the state and national levels.

There are approximately 275 registered voters of Americans Elect in Nebraska.

A non-partisan, non-profit organization, Americans Elect was launched as a national effort to conduct an online convention to nominate presidential and vice presidential candidates for the 2012 election ballot. As a result of a successful petition drive in March 2012, it became a recognized party in Nebraska.

However, the online nomination effort was not successful and no Americans Elect candidate ever appeared on any state presidential ballot in 2012.

Voters who are registered with Americans Elect in Nebraska will be informed of the dissolution and given an opportunity to re-register with another state-recognized political party. County election officials will no longer accept voter registration applications where Americans Elect has been indicated as the party of choice.
