Douglas Raney of Wallace recently won $90,000 playing Nebraska Pick 5 from the Nebraska Lottery.
Raney purchased his winning Nebraska Pick 5 ticket at Time Saver, 1220 South Dewey in North Platte. The ticket was good for multiple draws and contained one play with all five of the winning numbers (7, 8, 22, 28, 29) from the Oct. 2 drawing for the $90,000 jackpot.
Two hundred and eighty-eight Nebraska Lottery players have won the Nebraska Pick 5 jackpot to date.
While claiming his prize on Oct.4, Raney told Nebraska Lottery officials that he plays the same numbers each week by purchasing the maximum amount of Pick 5 drawings at a time (12 weeks of drawings). “I buy multi-draw tickets and then I mark down on the calendar when they’re done,” said Raney. “We don’t have a lottery retailer in town, so buying multi-draws saves me time traveling to the store.”
Raney plans to pay bills using his winnings.
Nebraska Pick 5 is Nebraska's unique Lottery game: all the proceeds from Nebraska Pick 5 stay in Nebraska, and all the winning tickets are sold in Nebraska at Nebraska Lottery Lotto game retailers.
The odds of winning the Nebraska Pick 5 jackpot, which starts at $50,000 and grows by $4,000 each drawing that it is not won, are 1 in 501,942. The overall odds of winning a prize in the game, which has drawings six nights a week, are 1 in 8.
The mission of the Nebraska Lottery is to generate proceeds for good causes while providing quality entertainment options to Nebraskans. Over $499 million has been raised for the Nebraska Lottery’s beneficiary funds since the Lottery began in 1993.
All 93 counties in Nebraska have benefited from projects funded with these Nebraska Lottery proceeds.
