Lincoln, Neb. Millions of Americans will be packing up the car and hitting the road this Memorial Day weekend. Even more people will be traveling as the summer months approach.
Auto experts say it's important to check a few things before taking your trip.
Tire pressure, brakes, oil and coolant are the main things they say to check.
Brakes Plus Service Manager Nick Kreienkamp says if you're planning to go across the country, make sure you have plenty of water and oil. He says make sure the oil is changed and transmission fluids look good.
If you're not going too far, Kreienkamp says it's still important to check tire pressure, windshield wipers, and wiper fluid.
He adds that it's also important to check your car's history to see if your car has any previous incidents of breaking down.
