What's Happening on This Week's Buzz – Feb. 6

On this week’s episode of Star City Buzz, we’re celebrating Valentine’s Day. We begin the show by looking at a few places to pick up gifts for your loved ones. Curio Collective is located at 2120 Winthrop Road in Lincoln. The store features a wide variety of products from artisans and crafters from around Nebraska. There are plenty of gifts that are perfect for Valentine’s Day. It’s open Tuesday through Saturday from 10AM to 6PM.

We also take you back to Ten Thousand Villages to see what kind of products would make great gifts on this special occasion. The store is located at 801 P Street in Lincoln. It’s open from Monday to Wednesday from 10AM to 6PM, Thursday to Saturday from 10AM to 9PM, and closed on Sunday. Sometimes it’s hard to decide what to do on Valentine’s Day. We decided to come up with some ideas for you. Corky Canvas is located at 3700 South 9th Street Suite C in Lincoln. It’s a place where you can learn how to paint and have a few drinks from the bar. On February 14th through the 16th they’ll be featuring a Couple’s Paint each night. The paint will take place from 6:30PM to 9PM. For just $70 you and your other half can each paint a canvas that you get to take home at the end of the evening. If you’re single on Valentine’s Day, it’s still nice to get something for those important to you in your life. Porridge Papers is located at 1422 South Street in Lincoln. It’s a handmade paper mill and letter press. You can find plenty of cards for any occasion. Porridge Papers is open Monday through Friday from 10AM to 6PM and Saturday from 12PM to 3PM. They are closed on Sundays.

If celebrating with the entire family is your Valentine’s Day tradition, why not try Clowning Around. You can have one of the clowns bring balloons, games, and magic tricks to your home. Now that we have gifts and activities covered, what about dinner? First, check out Colleen’s Catering operating out of 3200 North 6th Street Suite 3 in Beatrice. Colleen will be offering a special Valentine’s Day dinner delivered to your home on Friday, February 15th. The dinner will consist of an appetizer, salad, 3 choices of entrees, and a dessert. If staying in isn’t your thing, but you don’t want to spend too much money, Greenfield’s Café is the place to be. Located at 87th & HWY 2 here in Lincoln, Greenfield’s will put away their regular menu on February 14th for an evening of fine dining. For just $45 a couple, you can get a 4 course meal. The appetizer is spinach and artichoke dip. For the second course, choose between tomato bisque soup or spinach salad with pan-seared sea scallops. For the entrée you can choose between a peppercorn crusted steak, spinache pasta with pesto, or fresh mako shark. Plus, there’s red velvet cake for dessert. They’re open from 7AM to 10PM Daily. Lastly, if you want an upscale dinner, just head to The Venue. The Venue is located at 4111 Pioneer Woods Dr #100 in Lincoln. The Valentine’s Day special for two includes a slow roasted beef tenderloin, potatoes, vegetables, Cabernet wine, dessert for two, chocolate dipped long-stem strawberries, and butter roasted lobster tail. This week we go Behind the Mic with 10/11’s own Melanie Bloom and Rusty Dawkins. The two first met at 10/11. As they got to know each other more, they started dating. Now, they’re married and have two children. Watch the video to learn more about this 10/11 couple.

Finally, if you want a unique gift besides chocolates and jewelry, why not go with a singing gram? The Lincoln Continentals are an a capella men’s chorus that has been entertaining Lincoln since 1946. This Valentine’s Day they’ll be running around the town singing to others’ loved ones. The grams cost $35 to $55 dollars and include a rose, a song, and a photo. The group will be delivering the grams from 9AM to 6PM on February 14th.
