A Grand Island man is dead after a crash near G.I. Wednesday afternoon.
Hall County Chief Deputy Sheriff Chris Rea said winter weather conditions were to blame for the accident on Highway 30 near Blaine Street.
According to Rea, a man driving an Impala east on Highway 30 left the roadway and over-corrected. That's when a semi truck driven by Rick Ruggles of McCook hit the car on the passenger side.
The driver of the Impala was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is not being released until family can be notified.
Highway 34 was closed for about an hour Wednesday afternoon while the crash was cleaned up.
Official encourage drivers to slow down and increase their following distance during winter driving conditions.
