Streets in the Capitol Beach neighborhood are open following an incident involving a woman with a gun who had reportedly fired shots.
Lincoln Police Captain Jim Davidsaver says the woman was inside her home in the 1200 block of West Q Street with a shotgun.
Davidsaver said, "Shortly before 9 o'clock we received a report of a despondent female in a house near 12th and West Q, the caller said that one or two shots had been fired from a rifle or a shotgun, we had several officers, probably 10 or 12 respond to the area to secure it, once that was done, officers were able to safely approach and make voice contact with the person in the house, she came out without incident, she is currently in our custody, we're continuing our investigation to determine whether a crime has been committed, and if we need to make any special arrangements or placement for the person,"
Capt. Davidsaver says they did not close down West O Street, only the streets in the immediate neighborhood.
Capitol Beach Blvd and NW 14th Streets were closed at West P Street to West S Street for about one hour until the woman was taken into custody.
Lincoln Fire and Rescue EMS crews were staged nearby in case police found someone needing medical attention.
