The Nebraska Department of Roads says construction work is scheduled to begin this week on a 15-mile stretch of U.S. Highway 34 between Seward and Lincoln.
Drivers are advised to use I-80 as an alternate route. However, 31 will remain open during the project. It will be reduced to one lane at various intervals.
The $5.5 million contract calls for grading, concrete patching, guardrail replacement, milling and resurfacing the roadway.
Flaggers and a pilot car will control traffic flow. Expect delays.
The work is expected to be finished in November of 2013, or about 7 months from now.
