While he recommends some natural remedies to ease the symptoms of a cold, he says when a person doesn't feel up to normal daily activities, it might be time to see the doctor.
Meantime, Jennifer Burback of Akin's Natural Foods says that eating a healthy diet and taking supplements like Acidophiles and Elderberry can help prevent illness.
Weiss says he's not as familiar with natural cures but he agrees with Burback that Vitamin C and Zinc can help lessen the symptoms of the common cold.
Weiss says it's not too late to get a flu shot. He says he expects to see more cases of the flu in January.
