As the pastor at Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in Lincoln, Chris Anderson is always searching for ways to serve the elderly in his congregation.
In February when Dee Eicher was struggling with the loss of his wife, Pastor Chris came up with a plan to lift the spirits of his long-time friend. Dee Eicher met his future wife Luetta in their hometown of Milford.
After six decades of wedded bliss, Luetta passed away in mid-February. Pastor Chris Anderson had a feeling that a trip India to witness at the orphanage the church sponsors, would help give Dee's life new value.
In addition to 6 incredible days at the orphanage, Dee also got to spend 4 days in Mariani, India where he was stationed while serving in the army in 1943 to 1945.
Dee was so moved by his trip to see the orphans that he would love to go back to India again next year. If he remains as healthy as he is today, Dee will be able to mark his 90th birthday with a return trip to see the children that helped bring new meaning to his life.
