In the early 1930's Olin Morris and his "wife to be" sang the leads in their high school musicals in tiny Union, Nebraska. And now, 72 years later, Olin and Evelyn are still in perfect harmony.
They went to high school together, but didn't date each other. Fortunately, a couple of years after graduation they were brought back together to sing at a Union Fire Department fundraiser. Olin says, "We had a very successful performance and we fell in love during those rides in the car and so forth so we finally got married in 1938."
It was a long time ago, but Evelyn fondly remembers what it was that made her fall in love, "He's so kind and so good and so talented and so loving."
And Olin had also had some pretty romantic reasons for falling head over heels himself, "The fact that we could sing together and make music and make love at the same time."
Evelyn was a school teacher for 27 years. Olin worked for the U.S. Army and Navy for almost 40 years. They had three kids and all the while they just kept on singing.
On Friday, the couple gave their neighbors at Gramercy Hill Retirement Community a nice little musical treat for lunch. They sang "Have I Told You Lately That I Love You" to another.
Olin sums it up, "I'm 95 this month and Evelyn is 94 in August. That's 189 wonderful years."

What a terrific interview. It's so fitting, I think, that you should honor my folks this way on their 72nd Anniversary. Their example is a challenge to all of us. My wife and I have several years yet to go to match them (20 plus years). Thanks Mom & Dad for showing us the way.
What a wonderful interview! You were speaking to my mom and dad--and thanks for sharing their beautiful story.
This one has to be the most cutest, sweetest and wonderful Lance's journal I have ever seen. I only hope that my marriage can last that long. Congrats to them and their family for showing what life long sweetness is all about!
What a beautiful story.
