Big Red Backers are known far and wide for being some of the most passionate and loyal college football fans in the nation.
And two of the most passionate and loyal fans in the state of Nebraska are Pat Hawkins and Olive Circo of Omaha.
They've been Cornhusker fans through thick and thin.
This past Saturday, these "true blue" super fans from were in their seats just like they've been for the past seven decades.
Together, Pat and Olive have been attending Husker football games for more than a combined 140 years.
Pat is 89 years old and she made her Memorial Stadium debut in the fall of 1940.
Olive is 92 years old and she and her husband secured prime 50 yard line season tickets in 1946. Olive has attended more than 50 games at Memorial Stadium, "We had our seats 16 years before Devaney came. That was a long time because we'd sit up there all by ourselves. We couldn't give those tickets away."
Pat's father-in-law helped build Memorial Stadium in 1923, "Every time I come and sit here and look over at the new addition on the east side my heart just goes out to my father-in-law and I keep saying if dad could only see this how proud he would be."
Each week 80,000 Husker fans pack into Memorial Stadium. All of them are passionate but you better believe none of them are more loyal than Pat and Olive.
Pat says, "It gets more exciting. I start getting excited on Monday for
Saturday and we talk on the phone about it. It never gets old, it never gets old. Every Saturday it's a new beginning. It's wonderful. I hate to think someday I'm not going to be able to be here. But I'm gonna enjoy the day I'm here."
