Lance's Journal: Gaga for Gongs, Mar. 14

When you grow up going to school with the Beastie Boys and Matthew Broderick you're bound to lean a bit towards the creative side and this native New Yorker's creativity is paying big dividends.

He's living an entrepreneurs dream and Andrew Borakove marches to the beat of a different gong.

Borakove spent 2 decades writing TV comedy in Hollywood. But when the reality TV show craze hit about 7 years ago, he found himself looking for a new way to support his family, "I said, 'what am I going to do?' I had no idea. I walked around the beach, I moaned, I prayed, I banged my heads against various walls.'"

And all of a sudden, his solution appeared.

"One day I'm sitting there just meditating, relaxing and I saw just hovering in front of me just like a six foot gong," says Borakove.

As it turns out, it meant that he would one day become the Gong Guy.

Today, Borakove uses runs his Gongs Unlimited business online and his hard work helped him bring in almost a half a million dollars last year, "I don't think I've taken over one day off in 7 or 8 years."

He has sold gongs to teams in almost every pro sport and new to the Gongs Unlimited customer list is Major League Baseball's San Diego Padres and the NBA's Oklahoma City Thunder.
