Have you ever met a person that were just born to entertain?

Lisa Innis is one such person.

She plays the role of "Miss Ruby" as she encourages her customers to set aside the cares of the day as they step back in time to enjoy the romance and charm of sipping tea in the parlour.

Lisa says that in the beginning, "The wheels just kept turning and turning and turning and people just kept coming and coming."

Seven years ago, Lisa never could have imagined that her tea room would have become so popular, "They step through the door and they automatically unwind."

Thanks to a great deal of word of mouth advertising, Ruby & Cordelia's has been a hit since it opened, "The first year we never listed the phone number...and we stayed busy."

The woman now know as Miss Ruby is a natural born party planner, "I'm a hostess hog. That's why I'm here. You know years ago, before the tea room and before I had an old home, by golly if you were getting married I was throwing you a bridal shower, if you were having a baby, I was throwing you a baby shower I didn't care if you didn't know me I was going to have your event."

Miss Ruby thrives on providing her customers with a cultural experience they won't soon forget, "I was all about the planning, the food, the presentation, the music, every little detail and then when those events were over, I had no reason to live, so I had to open the tea room."

A set menu is served each day consisting of traditional afternoon tea, chicken salad on a croissant and scones that are served with jelly and cream.

Miss Ruby serves up lunch 4 days a week at 12th & Peach Streets in Lincoln.The tea room hours are between 11 & 2 Wednesday thru Saturday.
