As a kickoff to their volleyball season, the Peru State College (PSC) Bobcat volleyball team will take on their alumni volleyball counterparts this coming Saturday night, August 21. Game time is set for 7 p.m. and will be held in the Al Wheeler Activity Center. This game has been a part of the New Student Weekend events and will be well attended by new students and returners.
Senior setter KT Salberg (Sterling) commented, “I am very excited to be on the court again with some of the players from recent years, even though they will be on the other side of the net. It is always fun to play the alumni because they give us some good competition which helps prepare for the beginning of the regular season.”
“Practice has been going well so far,” added senior right-side hitter Toni Ratliff (Shenandoah). She also stated, “We are developing a never-give-up attitude and our communication on the court is improving with every practice.”
Head Coach Lexie Baack has eighteen girls on this year’s squad which is the largest in her five-year tenure.
The Bobcats will begin their regular season on Wednesday, August 25, as they travel to Seward to take on Concordia University with a 7 p.m. game time.
Their first home game will be Friday, September 10, when the ‘Cats host Haskell Indian Nations University at 7 p.m. This will be their first conference game of the year in the College’s final year in the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference before moving to the Heart of America Athletic Conference in the fall of 2011.
