Nebraska football great Ndomukong Suh's road to glory began at home.
His mom, a single parent, raised him and his sister alone.
Suh's mom is now talking about what it took to raise the NFL player.
Bernadette Suh said one of the first lessons she taught her son was to chose good friends and secondly to know the people he was getting involved with.
She said school activities and sports are what kept Ndomukong structured.
When she wasn't at work she stayed at home with her kids.
"It was very hard. There were many nights I went to bed at 2 or 3 o'clock in the morning and got up at 5 a.m., packed bags to go to the babysitters and so forth. But I knew in the long run it would pay off because I was doing what I knew I should be doing as a parent," said Bernadette Suh.
Bernadette Suh was in Omaha speaking at a fundraiser for the Durnham Museum.
Her speech focused on the importance of spending time with your children.
