The Sioux City Musketeers scored six unanswered goals in route to a 6-2 win over the Tri-City Storm at the Fall Classic. The Storm will play the Dubuque Fighting Saints on Thursday at the Tyson Events Center.
Tri-Cities Cody Murphy scored the opening goal in the first period, as Tucker Brockett assisted on the goal that gave the Storm the lead less than seven-minutes into the game.
After the Storm’s goal it was all Sioux City, who scored six goals in less than 40-minutes apart. Ondrej Zehnal and Max McCormick each scored two of the goals, while Ryan Carpenter opened the scoring in the first period for the Musketeers and Caleb Herbert added a second period goal.
The Storm’s DJ Vandercook scored at the 11:00 mark in the third period. Dominic Panetta and Brad Scheirhorn assisted on the final goal of the game for Tri-City.
Steven Bolton received the loss with 15 saves on 21 shots for the Storm. Jake Hildebrand made 14 saves on 16 shots in the win for the Musketeers.
Tri-City on the power play was 0-for-5, while Sioux City was 3-for-8 with the man-advantage.
The Storm will play Dubuque (4:00 PM) on Thursday and finish on Friday at the IBP Center against the Des Moines Buccaneers (10:00 AM) at the Fall Classic.
