After surrendering several fourth quarter leads last season, the Northwest Vikings will look to finish ball games this year.
"We've made it a big point to be in good shape for this season because we plan on having a lot of people play both ways," said senior linebacker Conner Eberhardt.
Third year Head Coach Kevin Stein reiterated the Vikings game plan.
"You know, we were in every game. In the lead quite a bit in the second half and we need to finish strong. Not just finish games but finish strong."
"Six of our seven losses we led at half-time, we kinda got out of shape," admitted senior quarterback Zack Rouzee.
A two and seven 2011 season has put this group of Vikings on edge and serious about committing to success. No matter how many push ups, up-downs, or sprints it may take.
"We feel good, we feel confident, we feel like we're ready to come from the unknowns and get things going a little bit," said Stein.
The team also knows it's not just about being fast but getting the season off to a fast start.
"The quicker we get started we can just stay in front of teams and stuff like that," said Rouzee.
No matter how fleet of foot the Vikings will be, Eberhardt is still a throwback.
"I love hitting people."
"You want athletes," said Stein. "You want competitors. Guys who know how to work and get up and grind through the day."
