The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) is pleased to announce that the 2012 GPAC Baseball Championship Tournament will be in Lincoln, Nebraska, at Haymarket Park and Sherman Field. The 2012 tournament is May 3-5.

In an arrangement between the Lincoln Convention and Visitors Bureau, Nebraska Wesleyan University and the league Haymarket Park will be the primary field for the three day event and Sherman will be used as championship field number two.

"Baseball and other great sporting events have a long-standing tradition here in Lincoln," said Jeff Maul, Executive Director of the Lincoln Convention and Visitor's Bureau. "We are fortunate to have the opportunity to partner with Nebraska Wesleyan University and the Great Plains Athletic Conference to host the 2012 championships in Lincoln. This event brings together several of our great facilities, many teams from across the region, and will provide many baseball enthusiasts in Lincoln the opportunity to support those athletes during their visit."

"This is a tremendous opportunity for the GPAC," said Corey Westra, GPAC Commissioner. "Having our baseball championship at a venue the caliber of Haymarket Park will be a memorable experience for the student-athletes and fans alike." "We are pleased that this will be our second league championship event at a University of Nebraska facility (GPAC Indoor Track and Field is at the Devaney Center on February 17, 2012)," added Westra.

"Nebraska Wesleyan is very excited to serve as the host for the GPAC baseball championship." said NWU Athletic Director Dr. Ira Zeff. "We look forward to working with the Lincoln CVB and GPAC to make this tournament a great experience for the student-athletes and the Lincoln community."

The top eight teams in the conference standings will participate in the three-day event with the winner receiving the league's second automatic berth to the NAIA Baseball National Championship Opening Round.
