Lincoln—Cornhusker State Games officials have issued a list of CSG sports still open for registration, including adventure race, open-water swimming, BMX racing, boxing, mountain bike racing, cycle tour, ENERGY 5K, fishing, rugby, sailing, skateboarding, ultimate frisbee and all walking events.
Those interested can find more information or register at CornhuskerStateGames.com.
Limited availability also remains in other sports to help fill divisions. Officials have asked those interested in other sports to contact the office immediately at 402-471-2544 if they still want to participate in this year’s Games, which mostly take place July 20-29.
One sport, swimming, will take place a week early on July 14-15, and officials reported swimming registrations at 421, its highest total since 2000. Seven other sports are at or above record numbers, including badminton (62), crossfit (65), fencing (73), judo (45) and pistol shooting (24). Crossfit is the Games’ only new sport for 2012. There are 65 sports in all.
More than 10,000 are currently registered, and officials believe the end total will be near last year’s 11,511 entries. The 2012 Cornhusker State Games is a qualifying event for the 2013 State Games of America, which take place next August in Hershey-Harrisburg, Penn.
