For the second consecutive year, the Doane football team placed a player on the ESPN Academic All-District VII Football Team announced by CoSIDA on Thursday.
A year ago, Garrett Schroeder became the first Tiger football player recognized with the honor. This year, Schroeder is joined by teammate Cason Christensen. Both were named Third Team Academic All-District VII by ESPN.
Schroeder, a senior running back from Blue Hill, holds a 3.95 grade point average in psychology. He is the son of Robert & Barbara Schroeder. This season, Schroeder has rushed for 106 yards on 41 carries while catching six passes for 44 yards. He has five special teams tackles on the year as well.
Christensen, a sophomore defensive lineman from Raymond, holds a 3.96 grade point average in biology. He is the son of Mark & Lana Christensen. This season, Christensen ranks seventh in tackles through eight games. He has 14 solo tackles and 18 assist tackles while leading the team with 5.5 tackles for loss. He also leads the team with three forced fumbles.
