Waco, Texas – Nebraska Wesleyan University senior linebacker Brett Kaczor was named to the 2012 AFCA NAIA Coaches All-America Team that was announced today (Dec. 12) by the American Football Coaches Association.

Kaczor (Ewing, Neb.) recorded 94 total tackles in nine games during his senior season ranking 14th in the NAIA in tackles per game (10.4). He totaled 10.5 tackles-for-loss, a quarterback sack, forced two fumbles, recovered two fumbles, intercepted three passes and blocked a kick. Kaczor played the final two games of the season with a sternum injury, including the final game of the season where he had 16 tackles, two interceptions and two forced fumbles to earn NAIA National Player-of-the-Week honors.

Kaczor is just the third NWU football player in school history to be named to the AFCA Coaches All-America Team, joiningDarren Stohlman in 1992 and Ethan Hunke in 2010.

The Ewing H.S., graduate finishes his career with 253 total tackles to rank 10th all-time at Nebraska Wesleyan in tackles. He also had seven career interceptions. He was a two-time 1st-Team All-GPAC selection at linebacker, was GPAC Player-of-the-Week twice this season and three times for his career. As a junior, he led the GPAC and was 10th in the NAIA with 100 tackles.

This marks the second straight season that Kaczor has earned All-America recognition. During the 2011 season, he was a Third-Team All-American selection by the Beyond Sports Network. He was also a three-time All-GPAC performer, earning honorable mention in 2010.

NWU finished the 2012 season with a 6-4 overall record as the Prairie Wolves won the final five games of the year.

The AFCA has selected an All-America team since 1945 and currently selects teams in all five of its divisions. What makes these teams so special is that they are the only ones chosen exclusively by the men who know the players the best – the coaches themselves. The AFCA All-America team is made up of 11 offensive players, 11 defensive players, a punter, a placekicker and an all-purpose player.
