Nebraska Wesleyan's run in the GPAC Baseball Tournament came to a close on Friday night (May 4) as the Prairie Wolves dropped a 12-8 decision to Northwestern College in an elimination game at Haymarket Park in Lincoln.

NWU finished 2-2 in the tournament and ends the 2012 season with a 20-22 overall record.

The Prairie Wolves built up a 2-0 lead as they scored one run in each of the first two innings. Northwestern put up three in the top of the third but NWU scored again in the third to tie the game.

Northwestern would then score another run in the top of the fourth and they would not look back. The Red Raiders scored three unearned runs in the top of the fifth and plated five additional runs to build up a big 12-3 lead.

NWU tried to make a late push as they scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth and had two runners on base when the final out was recorded.

Alex Heideman finished 3-4 with two doubles to lead NWU at the plate, while Griffin DePriest was 3-4 with two RBI in his final game in a NWU uniform.
