Lincoln, Neb. – Two of the top three volleyball teams in the Great Plains Athletic Conference will meet on Wednesday night (Oct. 27) at Snyder Arena in Lincoln as Nebraska Wesleyan hosts Doane College in a battle of arch rival teams.
NWU is ranked #19 in the AVCA/DIII poll for the fourth straight week, while Doane moved up to #14 in this week’s NAIA Top 25 poll. This will be the second meeting of the two teams after Doane won the first match, 3-0, on Sept. 22 in Crete.
The Prairie Wolves enter Wednesday’s match with a 22-3 overall record and an 11-2 mark in the GPAC to sit third in the league standings. NWU has won four straight matches, and nine of the last ten since the loss at Doane on Sept. 22. The Prairie Wolves are a perfect 6-0 at home this season.
Doane is currently on a 10-match winning streak and is 21-4 overall. The Tigers are 12-1 in the GPAC, one game ahead of NWU in second place. During the Tigers current winning streak, Doane has lost just two total sets.
Nebraska Wesleyan will try to snap their 17-match losing streak to Doane. NWU has not defeated Doane in volleyball since the 2001 season.
