Lexington, Ky. – Despite its current five-match winning streak, the Nebraska Wesleyan University volleyball team remained No. 19 in this week’s AVCA Division III Coaches Poll that was released Tuesday (Oct. 12).
The Prairie Wolves received 151 total points to sit at No. 19 for the second straight week. Nebraska Wesleyan is currently 18-2 on the year, winning their last five matches dating back to Sept. 22. Washington (Mo.) is still unbeaten at 21-0 and ranked No. 1. Three teams in the top 25 have only one loss, then five teams including NWU have two losses.
Last week, Nebraska Wesleyan won all three road matches, including a thrilling 3-2 victory at NAIA No. 19 Dordt College on Friday night. The Prairie Wolves also swept Concordia, 3-0, and defeated Dakota Wesleyan, 3-1, on Saturday in Mitchell, S.D.
NWU concludes its four match road swing this Wednesday (Oct. 13) with a match at Midland University in Fremont. The Prairie Wolves defeated the Warriors, 3-0, on Sept. 7 in Lincoln in the first meeting between the two teams.
Nebraska Wesleyan will finally return home this weekend for the start of six straight home matches in Snyder Arena. Sioux Falls will be the opponent on Friday night (Oct. 15) at 7:30 pm, followed by a Saturday afternoon match against Briar Cliff at 3 pm.
The Prairie Wolves, who have had just two home matches this season will play two home matches in each of the next three weeks.
