The Lincoln Stars will face their rival the Omaha Lancers Saturday afternoon in an outdoor game at T.D. Ameritrade Park.
The Stars practiced at the site of the College World Series on Thursday.
It will be the first outdoor game in the history of the USHL. The puck drops at 12:35 PM on Saturday.
"I guess in one word it's special," says Stars coach Chad Johnson. "It's a once in a lifetime opportunity for a lot of players and a lot of coaches. Nebraska deserves it."
"You get out here and its something special," says Stars defenseman Paul LaDue. "It's fun and I can't wait til Saturday."
Temperatures for CWS games are usually in the 70's and 80's but coaches and players hope the weather will be in the 30's and 40's for Saturday's game.
"We know the weather is going to cooperate," says Johnson. "There is such a a thing as hockey gods. I think we're going to have a great day on Saturday."
The Stars-Lancers game is the first of two contests at T.D. Ameritrade Park on Saturday. UNO will face North Dakota in the second game of the doubleheader. Tickets are still available.
