Head Coach and General Manger Drew Schoneck announced Tuesday that the Tri-City Storm have traded a second round pick in the 2011 USHL Entry Draft in exchange for forward Nick Lappin from the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders.
“We are pleased to add Nick to our team and believe that he is the kind of player that will help up moving forward with our offense,” Schoneck said about the 17-year old from Geneva, Ill. “He is a young player and will continue to get better this season.”
Lappin, who is eligible for the NHL Entry Draft this June, is expected to join the team this week for practice and will wear the number ‘15’ jersey for the Storm.
He played in four games for Cedar Rapids in the preseason and had a goal and assist with a plus-3 rating. Last season for the RoughRiders, the 6-foot, 170-pound forward had four goals, four assists and 46 penalty minutes in 35 games.
The Storm will play the next three games on the road, as they play Friday night against the Omaha Lancers in the Omaha Civic Auditorium.
