The Tri-City Storm finalized a trade with the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders to acquire C Jared Linnell for Storm affiliate player LW Corey Petrash.
General Manager and Head Coach Josh Hauge made the announcement Wednesday morning before the team’s morning skate.
Linnell, who is committed to the University of Alaska-Fairbanks, had six points (3g, 3a) and 16 penalty minutes in 16 games with the RoughRiders this season. Last season, Linnell was the leading scorer for Hauge’s Fairbanks Ice Dogs (NAHL) Championship team with 65 points (34g, 31a) in 58 games. In the playoffs, the 5-foot-11 and 175-pound center had 11 points (4g, 7a) in 11 games in route to the Robertson Cup Championship with Fairbanks.
The North Pole, Alaska native will wear No. 17 for the Storm and will be available to play tonight against the Des Moines Buccaneers.
The Storm will host the Buccaneers today at the Viaero Event Center. The game will be on The Breeze 94.5 FM with the Viaero Wireless Pre-Game Show at 6:45 p.m. Tri-City will host two more games this weekend against Sioux City on Friday and Omaha on Saturday, as both games will be on Classic Hits 98.9 FM.
